How to Plan Restaurant Automation

Restaurant automation is a design for the whole journey of an order. Start with your service process, then choose the screens and devices.

Map every ordering channel

List table service, quick counter sales, telephone orders, QR menus and online channels. Decide which catalogue and price list each channel uses. Establish one recording point for an order so the same request is not entered twice.

  • Table and counter service
  • Phone and delivery orders
  • Catalogue and price consistency

Separate preparation stations

Route products to the appropriate hot kitchen, cold kitchen, bar or oven. Test the kitchen display and printer fallback during installation. Ensure product options and order notes remain readable at the preparation station.

  • Match products to stations
  • Track preparation and waiting
  • Test printer and network failure

Assign permissions by job

Separate waiter, cashier, kitchen and manager access. Review cancellations, complimentary items, discounts and open bills by user. Complete a shift-close scenario with the people who will actually use the system.
