QR Menu Speed, SEO and Accessibility

A useful QR menu loads quickly, is easy to read and presents current product information. Fitting a picture onto a phone screen is only the start.

Prioritise mobile performance

Guests often open menus over mobile data. Resize images, avoid unnecessary scripts and show categories and essential product details promptly. Test on an ordinary phone and a limited connection, including the first visit without a warmed cache.

Publish product information as text

Do not place names, descriptions, prices or allergen information only inside an image. Search and accessibility tools need readable text. Keep sold-out status and product availability up to date.

  • Clear product names
  • Current prices
  • Ingredients and allergens
  • Visible sold-out status

Remove unnecessary barriers

Do not require an app installation or account just to open the menu. Provide sufficient text size, colour contrast and touch targets. Make table context visible and ensure the menu can be navigated using a keyboard and assistive technology.
